62-year-old Homeless Man Abandoned By Cele Church, Sleeps On His Excrete

An homeless man, James Owigho Agama has accused leaders of the Celestial Church of God of abandoning him on the walkway located at Shaga bus-stop, an area of Lagos State, Straightfromnaija.com gathered.

The man who was found lying on his excrete while flies were perching on him made this known during an exclusive conversation with our correspondent on January 2, 2018.

Our correspondent had called the Lagos State Emergency Center after sighting Agama on the walkway thinking he was dead, but when he approached Agama to confirm his status before informing the distressed agent, he discovered the Delta State indigene is alive.

Some police officers stationed at the roundabout of Shaga bus-stop informed our correspondent that they can’t leave their post to offer assistant after he requested they help convey the homeless man to hospital.

While many refuse to go close to Agama, others who walked-by were disgusted by the excrete on him and flies, as well as the smell oozing out of him. As it was clear no one was willing to help, our correspondent took it upon himself to stay with him until the LASEMBUS arrives.

Our correspondent made Agama promise to sit-up if he buys him launch, as he looked thin, sick and too tired to talk.
During the conversation with the 62-year-old homeless man, Straightfromnaija.com learnt that the man was abandoned by some Cele leaders from Imeko, Ogun State, where he seeked refuge and help.

He further stated that, “They promised to come back to take him” but it has been days since they left him at Shaga, according to him.

Agama disclosed that he is married with two chidren, Deborah and Femi and they are both living with their mother, Caroline Agama in the United States.

Meanwhile, it took the LASEMBUS close to two hours before they arrived at the scene. Upon their arrival, without examining Agama, the Head of medical team stated that they can’t offer him any help because he has no physical injury, as they only attend to accident victims.

She insisted that the responsibility falls within the jurisdiction of the Lagos Welfare office. Her utterance got a resident, Gabriel Alabi, angry, who asked the lady why she was so concerned about the physical injury, adding “What if he has internally injury?”

She responded that they are not equipped for such medical examination. after which our correspondent informed her to “take Agama to the hospital, get him tested and handover his case to the social welfare”

After much arguments, the LASEMBUS officers agreed to take him to the hospital on certain conditions. Our correspondent was asked to provide water, attire and drink if they (medical team) are to attend to him – a request our correspondent and Mrs. Balogun, wife to the Balogun of the community provided.

Agama was later bathed, clothed and taken to the hospital.
